Overview

TI Automotive is a leading manufacturer of automotive fluid storage, carrying and delivery systems, with 23,000 employees at 130 locations in 29 countries. The company expanded its operations at a new location in Auburn Hills by constructing a new headquarters building for 130 current employees and an additional 97 new employees.

G2 Consulting Group provided design and construction expertise to Cunningham-Limp for this 144,000 square foot, three-story steel-framed office building.

Challenges/Solutions:

• Unsuitable soft clay soils and organic fill soils needed to be removed and replaced with engineered fill to support building foundations. G2 developed solutions that reduced import and export of soils from the site during earthwork operations.
• The construction schedule required work to continue through the winter to meet deadlines. G2 proposed re-use of existing on-site soils as engineered fill and import of drier recycled manufactured sand, allowing winter work to continue and reducing the construction schedule.
• G2 field staff is cross trained to handle multiple specialty inspections and testing areas, simplifying  and expediting scheduling.
