Group Leader Patrick Bell, P.G., explains how these enhanced capabilities, along with the addition of our new Environmental Resource Specialist Abby Brown, are strengthening G2’s environmental consulting services and supporting our growth.

As environmental regulations continue to evolve, access to reliable wetland consulting services has become increasingly important. The demand for experienced wetland consultants has significantly grown due to industry consolidation. G2 saw this as an opportunity to better serve clients by advancing our in-house wetland consulting expertise and bringing it to the forefront of our environmental services.

Wetlands play a crucial role in protecting water quality and maintaining healthy ecosystems. Because of their environmental significance, wetlands are protected by regulations that can significantly impact a project. Before purchasing property, planning a development, or beginning construction, it is important to understand the environmental constraints that may affect a site. Wetland determinations and delineations help identify regulated areas and establish the permitting requirements necessary to move projects forward.
Strengthening Our Team with Specialized Expertise
A key aspect of this growth is the addition of environmental resource specialist Abby Brown to G2’s Chicago office.
Abby has five years of environmental consulting experience in many of the same markets G2 serves, including the energy sector. Wetland consulting has been the primary focus of her career. Her expertise strengthens our ability to provide quality wetland services while extending our presence to new regions and industries.
In addition to wetland consulting, Abby is certified to perform erosion and sediment control inspections in Lake County, where G2’s Chicago office is located. She also holds the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Construction General Permit Site Inspector Certification, which qualifies her to inspect construction sites covered under the EPA Construction General Permit and demonstrates her experience with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations and permitting. Her background enhances our existing Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC) services, enabling us to serve more clients and projects with broader environmental support.
Expanding Wetland Consulting Services
At its core, G2 is a land development consultant. Our services are designed to help clients move projects from concept to completion by identifying challenges early and providing practical solutions throughout the development process.
Wetland consulting complements many of our existing environmental services, such as Phase I environmental site assessments and SESC. By integrating our environmental consulting services in-house, we can simplify project coordination and serve as a single trusted resource for clients. This comprehensive approach not only improves efficiency but also helps clients make informed decisions throughout a project.
Many of G2’s wetland consulting projects have been concentrated in Michigan. With Abby based in Chicago, we now have an opportunity to extend these services throughout Illinois and the broader Midwest.
