Traverse City Record Eagle included Jason Stoops, P.E., managing principal of G2 Consulting Group’s new Traverse City office, among its 2026 Leaders of Northern Michigan.

His feature discussed G2’s recent expansion to Northern Michigan with a new office located at 3660 Rennie School Rd., Suite A, in Traverse City, to better support clients and projects throughout the region.

“There’s a lot of thoughtful investment, infrastructure, and economic development [in the region], and we want to be a part of that progress,” Stoops said in the article.

Like G2’s other locations, the Traverse City office, which also houses an on-site lab, aims to expand its comprehensive reach while also reinforcing and forging new client connections. In fact, projects supporting Boyne City Schools, Boardman Lake, and the Traverse City YMCA, among others, are already in play.

“We’ve always built our company on relationships,” he added. “We want people to know that we’re here, we’re accessible, and we’ll continue to support local projects for years to come.”

A licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania, Stoops holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from the University of Michigan.

In addition to his leadership at G2, Stoops serves as an adjunct professor at Lawrence Technological University, where he has taught Foundation Engineering since 2011 and serves on the Civil and Architectural Engineering Advisory Board. His commitment to mentorship extends beyond the classroom, as he regularly guides young engineers and supports student-led projects such as senior design capstones and ASCE’s Concrete Canoe competition.

In 2025, Stoops was awarded the prestigious Franklin D. Meyers, P.E., Outstanding Civil Engineer of the Year Award. Presented by the American Society of Civil Engineers, this award honors individuals who exemplify professional excellence through innovative engineering, ethical practices and dedicated service to the profession and community.
