Mark Smolinski, P.E., founding principal at G2 Consulting Group, was named to the Crain’s Detroit Business 2026 “Notable Leaders in Architecture, Engineering & Construction” list.

The Notable Leaders in AEC list recognizes industry professionals who are leading the way in Southeast Michigan’s built environment. Smolinski was one of the 50 honorees who serve in leadership roles at their respective organizations and have shown a commitment to advancing the region’s industry and community. Honorees were recognized in a special section of the May 25 print edition of Crain’s Detroit Business.

As founding principal of G2, Smolinski oversees daily operations and strategic vision for a fast-growing engineering firm employing over 160 people across its offices in Troy, Ann Arbor, Flint, Traverse City and Chicago.

Smolinski’s nomination read, in part: “Mark is a founding Principal of G2 Consulting Group. In July 2023, Mark led G2’s efforts as it secured an investment from Great River Group, providing G2 with opportunities to scale services, invest in people and technologies and geographical reach, keeping G2 at the forefront of the Michigan engineering community.”

Smolinski is active professionally and personally. He is a member of the board of Great River Group and served 11 years on the ACEC Life/Health Trust Board of Trustees. He also represents Red Run Golf Club in the Eagles for Children charity, helping raise $1.2 million in grants given to nearly 100 local children’s charities over the years.
