The University of Michigan Health Helipad Evaluation and Reconstruction project in Ann Arbor, Michigan, designed by G2 Consulting Group (G2), has received the 2026 Geo-professional Business Association (GBA) Woodward L. Vost Project Excellence Award.

The project restored the vital medical transport facility after a sinkhole in September 2024 compromised the structural integrity of the hospital’s west helipad, halting operations. Being adjacent to an active hospital and above critical stormwater infrastructure required a high level of coordination. Construction activities were carefully managed around ongoing helicopter operations and evolving site conditions, demanding continuous communication and adaptability. By integrating design, inspection, and quality control, G2 delivered a durable, long-term solution, successfully returning the helipad to full service while demonstrating engineering excellence under complex and urgent conditions.

By fully integrating GBA resources into every aspect of the project, from contract development and change management to risk mitigation and professional growth, G2 demonstrated a commitment to best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement. These efforts not only contributed to the seamless delivery of a critical emergency asset but also underscored the value of GBA membership in supporting technical excellence and client satisfaction.

Congratulations to Project Manager Mark Stapleton and the G2 and Lawrence M. Clarke team members who contributed to this award-winning project!
